The Pulse survey engine can be programmed automatically when you want to set up regular surveys (weekly, bi-weekly or monthly).

To do this, you must go to Administration, in the Engine Management section. By default, the engine is configured in Manual mode. You click on "Modify" to switch to automatic mode.

Once the automatic mode is activated, you can set the following information:

• the frequency of the surveys: weekly, bi-monthly, monthly or quarterly
• the duration of the surveys: 1 week, 2 weeks or 1 month
• the day the surveys are sent out: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday
• The reminder email(s): define in the blank box the number of days before the end of the survey. You can program as many reminders as you want, because they will only be sent to people who have not yet responded to the survey.

Below the frequency of the surveys, you will find a colored banner that tells you the approximate number of questions that will appear on each survey, the average response time and the length of a cycle.

NB: The duration of a cycle corresponds to the period at the end of which all the questions in the Pulse driver library will be asked.

Once you have made your choices, click on "Update" at the bottom right to save your changes.

To set the frequency of appearance of your questions on surveys, go to the Pulse driver library (Administration → Pulse driver list), click on a question and here, several settings are available:

• you have first the spaces to modify the name of the driver, your questions and/or your translations
• you will find a "Questioning frequency" window that allows you to determine whether this question should appear on all your questionnaires (all the time), on a few questionnaires (automatic) or not at all (in pause).
• The "Optionality" box allows you to make a question mandatory or optional. Respondents can skip the question if they are not concerned by it.

Once these settings are defined, the Pulse engine will automatically organize the surveys.

To get an overview of the upcoming surveys, you can go to Survey Management: here you will find the dates of your upcoming surveys, as well as the questions that will constitute them.

If needed, you can modify the questions per survey by clicking on the modify button. You can then delete a question or add one.

Note: When you delete a question, it will not automatically be added to a subsequent survey. You will have to wait until a new cycle is launched for it to be automatically programmed again. If you want to add it to another survey in the cycle, you can do so manually.
